Are you already skilled but don't have a qualification?

If so, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) can help you achieve a qualification without having to study skills you already have.

How do I find out more?

Simply call us on 1300 764 828 or email us at enquiries@worksavvytraining.com.au and one of our Training Consultants will call you back within one business day. We are happy to email or post you more information, or visit your workplace to discuss the options without any obligation.

What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is the acknowledgement of skills and knowledge obtained through learning achieved outside the formal education and training system.

RPL recognises any prior knowledge and experience and measures it against the qualification in which you are enrolled. You may not need to complete all of a training program if you already possess all or some of the competencies included in the qualification.

What are the benefits of RPL?

If you apply for RPL and are successful you could:

  • Eliminate the need for training in skills and knowledge you already have
  • Save time by not having to attend classes or study to complete unnecessary work
  • Complete your qualification in a shorter time
  • Advance more quickly to a higher level qualification if you wish

Does RPL cost money?

RPL does not cost any extra and can be considered as part of a traineeship program. We can deliver RPL on a fee-for-service basis, but the cost is no more than any other form of training.

How will RPL appear on my transcript?

Your student transcript will record the results of RPL units with a code that relates specifically to RPL enrolments.  A successful result will be recorded as RPL which means that you have been assessed as competent in the unit through RPL.

How can I work out whether I have the skills to apply for RPL?

Qualifications, or courses, consist of a combination of Units of Competence. You will receive a Self-assessment checklist which will give a brief description of the skills and knowledge that you need to possess to be assessed as competent for each unit. If you feel that you already possess the stated skills for one or more units, then it could be appropriate to request RPL for those units.

How do I go about requesting RPL?

You request RPL in a unit when you enroll in a qualification, however you can talk to us about RPL at any time during your studies or training.

How will I be assessed for RPL?

This is were Work Savvy Training is different from many other Training Organisations. We work with you to help you find the right evidence and we work with you individually to help you sort through the evidence required. Generally, you would make an appointment with one of our Trainers who will explain the process and help you identify the types of evidence required to demonstrate your competence. We may also ask you verbal questions to ascertain your skills, and in some cases, we may observe your skills in the workplace. If you are enrolled as a Trainee, we will come to your workplace and meet with you to discuss and arrange your RPL assessments.

Work Savvy Training is able to deliver RPL for the following qualifications
