What kind of incentives can my business receive through the traineeship system?

By enrolling eligible employees into Traineeships, employers are entitled to receive up to $4000 (per trainee/staff member) in Commonwealth Employer Incentive payments.

Who can do a traineeship?

Traineeships are available for both new employees and existing workers.

There are some eligibilty requirements for traineeships, but it is surprising how many employees are eligible to access funding for training.

If you are curious about your eligibility, download our Traineeship Eligibility Checklist and we can investigate your, or your staff's, eligibility.

Fax the checklist to us on 1300 098 828 or call us at 1300 764 828 to discuss your potential eligibility.

Some general eligibility criteria is as follows: Potential trainees must:

a) Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident

b) Not have a formal qualification in the same field as the traineeship qualification.

Are there any costs involved in traineeship programs?

New Entrant Traineeships are funded through DET NSW, so most of the training costs are covered. DET NSW have a compulsory administration fee of $424 per student, per year. This is the same administration fee as TAFE NSW charge.

Existing Worker Traineeships are not funded, so employers need to utlize their $4000 Employer Incentive to pay for the training.

All of Work Savvy Training's qualifications are delivered at a price well under $4000, so employers will benefit financially from training their staff through the Traineeship system.

What about experienced staff? How would they benefit from a Traineeship?

Experienced staff are often very skilled, but sometimes do not have a formal qualification that demonstrates their ability. These trainees can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) instead of completing formal training where it just isn't required.

Work Savvy Training assessor's work with these trainees to help them gather evidence of their competence and skills, and may also assess existing skills through observation and verbal questioning. Click here for more information on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Accredited training also provide opportunities for staff to broaden their skills and develop new skills. Our assessors will work with employers and trainees to put together a tailored package that meets the needs of each individual or workplace.
